Lowndesy’s Look: Winton Friday

Friday Wrap

Winton turned on the waterworks for us today and we braved the rain to carve some laps ahead of this weekend’s sprint races. Car #888 co-driver Steve “Richo” Richards was on hand to get some seat-time under his belt in the all-new Commodore, but the downpours rendered the session useless and the crew opted to keep the car in the garage. Basically they didn’t want the extra cleaning on their plates! Here’s how the rest of the day panned out:

Practice 1: 11th (Fastest Lap: 1:33.0321) *Wet
Practice 2: 20th (Fastest Lap: 1:20.5363)

“We had a good car in the wet through practice one, we made good progress there, but then we had to start again for the second session, being dryer. We learnt a lot, I think the car’s not bad to drive, we just need to find a bit more speed. The flow of the car, we’ve just got to get it to go better through turns seven, eight, nine. Overall I’m still happy. We’re not quite where we should be in the results in the sense of the speed of the car, I think we could have done a better job with that. It’s pretty tight at the top, but I think that we’ve got a good direction for tomorrow.”
